Recommended Movies & TV. June-December 2022 and Overall Favorites of 2022.

Check out this episode! YouTube Version These are my favorite movies and TV show from June-December 2022. June Insidious 1 & 2 (Amazon & Netflix) I'd never seen the Insidious movies. However, my younger brother watched them and told me they were creepy(which piqued my interest). In June, the first part was available on Prime Video, and the sequel and third films were on Netflix. I binged all three, but I preferred the first two as they wrapped up the Lambert family storyline.    Black Phone (movies) The next Blumhouse movie on this list. The movie pundits I follow talked about this Black Phone's great word of mouth from early screenings. Saw this in theaters and was amazed at Ethan Hawke's villainous performance. His 2nd turn as a bad guy in 2022(first in Moon Knight on Disney+ months earlier, but much better here). Umbrella Academy S3 (Netflix) I like the Umbrella Academy and its different take on the superhero genre. The protagonist dysfunctional family consists o...

Possible Cult Classic? Future Man Review Episodes 1-3

LISTEN TO THE PODCAST HERE This week, I asked Jason to watch the first three episodes(season 1)of Future Man.   Sci-fi, action, comedy series starring Josh Hutcherson from The Hunger Games films. Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen are the producers. Jason said he's a sucker for time travel shows and was impressed with the production quality.   'These three episodes can easily be made into a movie.'   He loved the 80s homages to such films as Terminator, Back to the Future, and The Last Starfighter.   He was also happy to see Keith David, whom he's enjoyed since his role as 'Childs' in 1982's 'The Thing.'    Issues he had with the first three episodes; 'if you aren't a fan of Seth Rogen's raunchy style of comedy, this may not be for you.'   Also, this Hulu exclusive didn't take itself seriously in specific scenes, and that hurt the narrative.    Some time ago, I began watching this show.   After the first 10 minutes, I switched it off be...

'Crazy, This Can't Be Real?' Tiger King Spoiler Review

Listen to the podcast here! Jason G and I both work in the NYC hotel industry; unfortunately, we were recently furloughed due to the Coronavirus. We agreed to keep in touch every week, check-in, share what we're watching or reading(specifically comic books). I asked him, 'have you seen Tiger King yet?' I'd seen it a week earlier and haven't talked to someone to share my thoughts. He told me his wife and daughter were watching it, and while he was doing chores around the house, it kept grabbing his attention. One week later, he's consumed the entire series, and we are here to chat about it. There are spoilers. We review this Netflix original based on its entertainment value. Jason compliments the director(Eric Goode)for showing the good and bad sides of the cast; Joe Exotic, Carole Baskin, Doc Antle. I mention related news I discovered after watching Tiger King. Such as Netflix filming new content to be released in April. Also, Joe Exotic's m...

Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance REVIEW

I saw the 1982 movie(on Netflix)in preparation for this series and found it lacking, which is weird because the world is so full of substance.    But as this series presents, there was more to be explored. This Netflix exclusive takes place before the movie, but I preferred Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance to the film.   Fleshing out these characters, the unraveling of the story, the history of the world was wonderful.   However, I admit it didn't grab me until the 2nd episode. I was surprised at how many times I got emotional watching this.  Specifically, the parent-child relationships.    Reinforcing the power of the human voice evoking emotion, whether it would be in an animated film like 'Up' or a series made with puppets showcased here. The fantasy world first introduced back in 1982 is more realized in this show.   If you're a fan of the Lord of the Rings trilogy, you won't be disappointed.   One of the locales called 'Ston...

Re-read Your Favorite Books as Opposed to Reading New Books, Pen 15 Review, Devil's Attorney Game Review

Check out this episode! In this episode I discuss... -Re-reading your favorite books over again as opposed to reading new books. -I review Hulu's original series 'Pen 15.' -Finally I review Devil's Attorney for the IOS(Apple devices). Re-Read Your Favorite Books as Opposed to Reading New Books. On this particular episode of the James Altucher show, he said he re-reads books which interest him multiple times.   Books which bore him he will stop, even if he's 500 pages in.  Mr. Altucher gains new and different insights in this process, which help him write his blog and books. This was inspiring, as I've found myself doing the same.   Moreso with audiobooks than actual books. I've listened to several twice, three times.    I would listen to the audiobook and buy the Kindle version and highlight parts which grab me. The notion of dropping uninteresting reads is liberating.    Until recently, this was a sin, as I felt obligated to f...
