The comic, originally French and available as The Complete Killer on Comixology, explores his internal worldview, his rise to wealth, and his struggle to escape the assassin life. He trains others, partners in business, and even starts a family, but never truly breaks free. I watched the Netflix adaptation (starring Michael Fassbender, directed by David Fincher) after reading the comic.
