On this episode I discuss french comic (translated to english), The Killer.  Awarded IGN's 2007 indy comic of the year, this story follows the life and times of an assassin. A.I. Summary I read  The Killer  comic twice to fully grasp its story — it's a deep, violent, and philosophical ride that follows a contract killer through his long, complex career. The comic, originally French and available as  The Complete Killer  on Comixology, explores his internal worldview, his rise to wealth, and his struggle to escape the assassin life. He trains others, partners in business, and even starts a family, but never truly breaks free. I watched the Netflix adaptation (starring Michael Fassbender, directed by David Fincher) after reading the comic. While the film was solid, it only covers a small sliver of the full comic’s story and takes some creative liberties. Check out this episode! YouTube Version These are my favorite movies and TV show from June-December 2022. June Insidious 1 & 2 (Amazon & Netflix) I'd never seen the Insidious movies. However, my younger brother watched them and told me they were creepy(which piqued my interest). In June, the first part was available on Prime Video, and the sequel and third films were on Netflix. I binged all three, but I preferred the first two as they wrapped up the Lambert family storyline.    Black Phone (movies) The next Blumhouse movie on this list. The movie pundits I follow talked about this Black Phone's great word of mouth from early screenings. Saw this in theaters and was amazed at Ethan Hawke's villainous performance. Audio Version YouTube Version Inspired by a Tik Tok user, I read Black Panther Shuri-Deadliest of the Species on Comixology. I posted a short review of the 'Wakanda Forever film on Tik Tok. A viewer tagged user @kingandqueenlion in the comments section of that video.   @kingandqueenlion responded to other fan reviews by going into Shuri's backstory and mentioning this book. In this story, T'challa is mortally wounded while going against Doctor Doom. As a result, his soul goes into limbo and combats Death itself. YouTube Video. At the beginning of 2021, I did a Google search for the best comics of 2020.   Several websites had similar titles ranked, and Immortal Hulk, Gideon Falls, Ice Cream Man were three choices. There's plenty more I will be showcasing on this blog, these being the first three titles. These were all thankfully available in some form on Comixology Unlimited.  For $6 per month, the various titles I can read across several publishers are fantastic.   I also enjoy when a comic property has an upcoming movie or TV show, Comixology makes those original stories available on Unlimited. The only graphic novel on this list currently available through Comixology was Immortal Hulk.  Gideon Falls and Ice Cream Man were their single, first issues.
