Recent Dance Videos I've posted on Social Media

I will be 50 this year, and I'm trying to record more dance videos. I've been dancing for years and never gave it much thought.  I wish I had prioritized it in the past, as I won't always be able to move like this. This video was on my building's rooftop in April(2025).  With the way the camera is positioned, one friend told me it looked like I was 'dancing on the clouds.' This second video was at a recent party, the first of a monthly party called 'It's a Reggae Party.'  Also in April. Dancing next to Eli Reed, with whom I've made dance videos. Here's the oldest of the videos in this post(September 2024).  I shot this on the balcony of my hotel room in Punta Cana, DR.  It was a big balcony with enough space to shoot this video. This was in a park in the town next to mine.  I've shot videos here before.  This was on a nice weather day in November(2024).

Dancing outside and around town. July & August 2024

In these short videos, I dance outside and around my town of Union City, New Jersey.  It's summertime, why not?  Dancing outside is a great way to build confidence and overcome the fear of other people's opinions.  I've done it plenty over the years, alone and with friends, and I will continue doing it. I want to get into the habit of documenting my dancing ability.  As I get older, it diminishes, and doing this is a great way to remember what I can do.  This whole blog is a little egotistical, but no one else will if you don't take the initiative to record these things for yourself.   This video is to Tekno's 'Telephone' with Vybz Kartel..this was shot by a local car wash. Here I'm dancing to The 9ine's 'Wait for Me', at a local Crunch gym.

Welcoming May 2024 with a Dance video

Nice weather days are starting to become more consistent.   Why not make a dance video to welcome May 2024.   The song is 'Uptown' by Roze Don.   This 'riddim' (or beat) called 'Street Vybz' takes me back to when I started going exclusively to dancehall parties, about 14+ years ago.    These older 'riddims,' like older dance moves, are being re-introduced to a younger generation, and I love it.    Enjoy!

Party Time at Lot 45-Brooklyn, NY. March 2024

Dancing the night away with friends, to some of our favorite genres of music.   Dancehall, Afrobeats, and Soca.   This party is made possible by Lot 45 in Brooklyn, NY and the promoter/DJ Play The Music.   Other NY DJs who played the same event were Khalil and Wah Gwan Twon.  Friends in this video: Lion(he and his wife Kim shot all the video) Mami Usher  Mateo Sparx Radha Cyrielle Hope to do more of this throughout the year.

Is NYC ReggaeFest becoming STALE?

Reggaefest.    I've attended many Reggaefest parties, including a couple of Yacth Fetes and 2022's Blaze party by South Street Seaport. Epic League and CJ Milan have taken this party on the road with stops in Washington DC, Atlanta, Los Angeles, Boston, and Toronto. I believe in this brand and can see a future where it goes to Latin America and Europe—potentially even a multi-day cruise. My favorite thing about the party is the format. The party is called Reggaefest, and they mostly play Dancehall. There's also Soca, Afrobeats, a little Reggaeton, and Ampiano as of this year. They played Hip-Hop in the early ReggaeFest days(a few years ago), but I prefer they don't. Many other parties call themselves Reggae this and Reggae that, but they play close to an hour of hip-hop—false advertising on their part. I also love that there are hardly any performances. Great DJs and great music keep us dancing all night long. Having attended this party for some time and spending my h...

A.I. Art Dance Video made by using Runway.

I've also used the Runway website to make this image. This is the original image I took on a bus ride to work-June 2023. I've seen and enjoyed these wild, artistic filters on Instagram and Tik Tok videos and wondered how they were created.   Once you like a post on these social media platforms, they feed you more of the same.   These apps were advertised to me, saying how A.I. turns regular images and video into art. I Googled which were the best A.I.-Art apps, programs, and websites.    I've had an excellent experience using sites instead of apps for graphics work, object removal from images, and green screen video.   I've done all that successfully through Canva.   So I gravitated toward the website recommendation of Runway .   A 4-second A.I. generated video here is free.   You have to pay for longer.   There is a credit and subscription system where you can get upwards of 15-second videos.    I subscribed to the monthly $...

Happy Thanksgiving Dance 2021

Happy Thanksgiving to all.  Thanks for all your support in listening to the podcast, checking out my videos, blog, social media.   It is much appreciated.   Here's a dance video celebrating yet another Thanksgiving.   Tell your family, friends, those important to you how much you appreciate them.  If this pandemic has shown us anything is another reminder of how short life truly is.   God bless and thank you once again.

Sharing Our Joy of Dancehall ....Again. August 2021

I've shot videos for the past few years of myself and friends dancing at parties.   These being some of the familiar faces in those videos.   We got together on this August afternoon and had a great time at Rise Radio simply catching up(pictured here).   Later at Lover's Rock with tunes by DJ WahGwanTwon.   As of late, I haven't been great at documenting these outings and it's something I should do more.   Grateful to my friends Mami, for taking this picture and Veronika for shooting these videos.   Jason Tree-Step is the life of the party.   More wonderful times spent with fellow dancehall fans and hopefully more to come. View this post on Instagram   In mid-august Max Glazer played at the Brooklyn Public Library for a 2nd time.   Mami shot this video there.    Another wonderful time in friends.    Dancehall brings folks together.   It's a good look.   View this post on Inst...

Welcoming the Spring 2021 by dancing outside.

Dancing in a nearby park in my town.   The song is Elephant Man's 'The Blessings.'   Dancing outside is fun and a great way to get uncomfortable and grow.   Yes people will watch, some might laugh, some might compliment me, but I know my confidence will grow because I chose to do something that was a little scary.   When was the last time you got out of your comfort zone?   Comment below.
