Toxic Avenger Unrated (2025)-Quick Review-Does it have that Troma magic?

Jason and I review the unrated 2025 remake of  The Toxic Avenger , praising it as a fun, gory, and heartfelt homage to the original Troma films. Jason highlights the cast—including Elijah Wood, Peter Dinklage, and Kevin Bacon—and gives it an 8.2, noting its gore, comedy, and spirit. I agree, giving it an 8, and saying it captures the over-the-top acting, humor, and gross-out style of classic ’80s Troma movies like  Class of Nuke ’Em High . We both enjoyed the outrageous kills, audience laughter, and overall fun vibe, recommending it to fans of the genre. YouTube version A longer audio review is coming soon on the podcast.

The Ballerina Spoiler Review-$132 Million Later

Check out this episode! On this episode, Jason G and I review 'Ballerina', a spinoff set in the 'John Wick' universe between chapters three and four. We praise the film’s action, calling it some of the best in the series, with standout scenes, such as a flamethrower sequence. I mention struggling to fully buy Ana de Armas as an action star, while Jason suggests the director’s style may emphasize looks over grit. We also note the inclusion of Lance Reddick’s character, filmed before his passing, and appreciate how the action feels intense but more grounded compared to other over-the-top set pieces in this universe. We give the movie an overall rating of 7 to 7.8 out of 10. The conversation concludes with thoughts on the box office and franchise. Despite a \$90 million budget, the film made about \$132 million worldwide, which may not cover total costs. However, it is performing well on VOD platforms. Lionsgate has not confirmed a 'Ballerina' sequel, but 'Joh...

Weapons Movie Review-Was it better than Barbarian?

YouTube Video Weapons   by Zach Cregger was a solid horror film, especially for fans of face mutilation and suspense. While the twist didn’t fully land for me, the movie picked up after a slow start and became quite engaging. I really enjoyed the eerie electronic score during tense moments and thought the cast was strong—The characters and actors playing Gladys and Alex were standout performances. The multi-perspective storytelling around 17 missing kids added depth, and I liked how it wrapped up. Not as strong as   Barbarian , but still a very good film—I'd give it a 7.5 out of 10. Please post your thoughts, comments, down below. Find more of my movie reviews here.

Fantastic Four: First Steps-Out of the Theater Quick Review

Jason and I give our quick review of  Fantastic Four: First Steps.  We both gave it a  rating of 7.9/10 . We praise the movie’s stunning production design, visuals (especially Galactus and The Thing), and soundtrack. Pedro Pascal stood out as Reed Richards, and the Silver Surfer was a highlight. While the film lacked some character depth and suspense, we still considered it the best Marvel movie of the year so far — surpassing  Brave New World  and  Thunderbolts. There were  two post-credit scenes: one worthwhile, one forgettable. Here's our out of the theater review A longer podcast spoiler review is coming soon.

The Amateur Spoiler Movie Review

podcast audio YouTube Video I saw this movie on Thursday, April 10, 2025. There are spoilers in this review. I’ve heard on the internet how Rami Malek almost seems alien-like in his appearance. This, coupled with his performance in the Mr. Robot show, makes him perfect for The Amateur. He plays CIA analyst Charles Heller. At the beginning of the film, his wife is on a business trip in London; terrorist activity takes place during her visit, and she is murdered. Heller then uses his intelligence to solve his wife's murder and get revenge while on the run from his employer. This was really well done, as I felt tense several times while watching The Amateur. In the film, Rami Malek plays a character who aspires to be a field agent. This is hinted at in the first act while talking to Jon Bernthal, who plays this dude-bro agent in several ongoing operations in the field. After the murder of his wife, his CIA superiors suggest Heller go home and mourn. But he feels the government entity ...

Venom: The Last Dance Spoiler Review + Box Office. Was it a Flop?

YouTube Video In this video above will hear/watch Jason G's spoiler review.  Mine is written below, including the box office. It started what seemed like a 90s-2000s superhero movie—incredible action scenes, with really cool special FX just for the heck of it. Something like 2003's Underworld with Kate Beckinsale comes to mind—style over substance. I wasn’t crazy about this. I’ve said this in my other Venom reviews for parts 1 and 2, which date back to 2018; I don’t know if it’s Tom Hardy’s accent because he is playing Venom and Eddie Brock, but I still can’t fully understand what he’s saying at times, especially when he's playing Venom. It's better in this 3rd chapter but not perfect. Interesting actors to see in this movie were Chiwetel Ejiofor and Rhys Ifans. Both were previously in Marvel movies, where they played different characters.  Rhys Ifans played the Lizard in Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man, and Chiwetel Ejiofor was Baron Mordo in Doctor Strange.  Funny en...

'I Saw The TV Glow' Movie Review-Was it any good?

I'm currently off work due to an injury and have time to catch up on movies I found interesting. 'I Saw the TV Glow' was praised by movie fans on TikTok, which made me curious. It is available on HBO Max, and I checked it out. The movie has these two characters, Owen and Maddy, played by Justice Smith and Brigette Lundy-Paine, respectively.  They are big fans of this TV show called 'The Pink Opaque.'  This show has X-files and Supernatural vibes but in a YA(young adult)setting with a monster/freak-of-the-week scenario. What I enjoyed about the movie: I loved the character's fandom over the show.  As a movie fan, getting together with movie friends and co-workers and discussing a favorite show is one of my joys in life. I enjoyed the scene where Owen sees the Pink Opaque in his adult years; it doesn't seem as attractive or cool anymore. Many of us can relate to this.  Transformers cartoons from the 80s play on repeat on YouTube, and I have trouble sitting thr...

Bob Marley One Love Spoiler Review-$93 Million Later

I enjoyed Bob Marley's One Love, a 2024 biopic based on the legendary musician's life. The highlights for me were Kingsley Ben-Adir's and Lashana Lynch's performances as Bob and Rita Marley. Ben-Adir oozed charisma in playing Bob, and Ms. Lynch made me feel their deep relationship bond. The film is a musical in a way, as several of Bob's classic songs were performed.   One Love also weaves the stories and motivations for classic songs, such as 'Three Little Birds,' with Mr. Marley putting it together in the backyard of his home in Kingston.  Video version of my review.    I hummed 'Exodus' days after watching the movie.   This beautifully shot movie details several critical moments in the singer's life, such as an assassination attempt, his extended stay in the UK, and his first concert back in Jamaica, where he had warring political figures make peace on stage. The movie's budget was $70 million, and I assume it cost another $70 million to...
