Recent game streams. UnMetal, Promenade, Balatro, & more Wolfenstein 2.

These are some of my recent game streams on Twitch.  You can also watch them on YouTube.

Within the last few months, I’ve discovered these YouTube channels discussing games on sale for specific platforms. My criteria (for my own purchases)is that the games should have great reviews and be under $10.  Promenade fit that bill.  I played some of the intro levels in this recent video and found it enjoyable.  Promenade is more of a platformer.  It is the kind of game many of us played as kids(and adults), having roots in games like Super Mario Brothers.  It’s colorful and not too stressful.  I’m still learning the mechanics.  Find out what Promenade is about here.

I’m continuing my playthrough of Wolfenstein 2 on the Steam Deck and I'm determined to make it the first game I complete on the handheld.  My eyes are not what they used to be, and playing this game on the big screen is better than playing it on the Steam Deck. In this video, I’m in the Manhattan Nuclear Fallout Shelter area. The highlight for me is the fight with the two panzerhounds.   See my previous WFS 2 videos here and the premise of the game here.

The next game is UnMetal on the PlayStation 5.  Another game purchased because of a discount sales video on YouTube.   The obvious comparison is that to Metal Gear on the Nintendo back in the day.  Except this is more of a parody. In this video,
I’m in a sewer fighting a boss character named Sewerjunk, who is made of(you guessed it)sewer junk.  It also includes a little traversal through the sewers and further escape from the military base.  Find out more about  UnMetal here.

Finally Balatro.  At the recent 2025 Game Awards, it won Indie Game of the Year.

Throughout most weeks, I consume a lot of video game news through podcasts and YouTube.  Two of those podcasts are AEW games and Kinda’ Funny Games Daily. Balatro, in separate segments, kept being mentioned on how addictive it is.  It’s a different kind of Poker game. Find out more about Balatro here. With multiple playthroughs, it gets easier to understand.  I found myself playing it on the big screen on the Xbox and on IOS on the go. It's currently available on GamePass and Apple Arcade subscription services. The game ends after you fail once and it has a strong ‘let’s go againquality.

Have you played any of these games?

Fantastic Four: First Steps-Out of the Theater Quick Review

Jason and I give our quick review of  Fantastic Four: First Steps.  We both gave it a  rating of 7.9/10 . We praise the movie’s stunning production design, visuals (especially Galactus and The Thing), and soundtrack. Pedro Pascal stood out as Reed Richards, and the Silver Surfer was a highlight. While the film lacked some character depth and suspense, we still considered it the best Marvel movie of the year so far — surpassing  Brave New World  and  Thunderbolts. There were  two post-credit scenes: one worthwhile, one forgettable. Here's our out of the theater review A longer podcast spoiler review is coming soon.

Weapons Movie Review-Was it better than Barbarian?

YouTube Video Weapons   by Zach Cregger was a solid horror film, especially for fans of face mutilation and suspense. While the twist didn’t fully land for me, the movie picked up after a slow start and became quite engaging. I really enjoyed the eerie electronic score during tense moments and thought the cast was strong—The characters and actors playing Gladys and Alex were standout performances. The multi-perspective storytelling around 17 missing kids added depth, and I liked how it wrapped up. Not as strong as   Barbarian , but still a very good film—I'd give it a 7.5 out of 10.
