eBay Sales for Dec. 2024-Dec 2025 & Overall Sales figures for 2024

YouTube version

December and January are strong sales months on eBay, as they are the holiday season.

Before getting into my items sold for these two months, I wanted to discuss my sourcing methods.

  1. I sell my stuff—items I've owned and no longer use.
  2. I work in a hotel and receive lost and found items guests leave behind. If the guest hasn't claimed the item within 90 days, the lost and found items are returned to the employee who found the item.
  3. Gifts and items guests give me(I didn't mention this in the video).
  4. My brother works in a college and also receives lost and found items. Once he's accumulated a box's worth of items, he sends them to me. I give him $40 for each box.

My sourcing costs are low. The storage area where I store my eBay items costs $146 per month. My packing supplies are minimal, but I spend $140 per year or less.

These are the items I sold in my eBay store for December 2024.

The first item I sold was on December 7.  These purple, slim fit, stonewash Levi's jeans I owned.  They sold for $13.  With shipping, the total was $28.93

The second item I sold was on December 13. It was my previously owned MacBook Air, a 2020 M1 model. I updated/ bought new MacBooks to replace my older models. This item sold for $415, and with shipping, the total was $429.75. This was my biggest sale for the two months. Of course, this is less than what I originally paid for it.

The third item sold was an Xbox controller with a case on December 16.  I had a couple of extra controllers catching dust, so I thought, why not sell them?  This item sold for $22, and $32.04 was shipped.

The fourth item sold on December 12 (I don't know why eBay has it in this order). This was given to me by a quest. He had an extra one and let me have it. This is a 2024 NY Giants bobblehead of Lawrence Taylor, commemorating the 100th season. This item sold for $45 and shipped for $54.65. A lot of profit made on this one.

The fifth item was a cozy, which had wireless headphones inside.  This was new in the box.  One of the items my brother sent me. This item also sold on December 16.  It sold for $9.99, shipped the total was $16.69

Many items I sell are in this $10 range.

The following item was a pair of hi-top Vans I owned.  They were bordering on forming holes in the soles.  They sold for $10 and shipped, totaling $19.54. They sold on December 13.

The final item sold for December was these Perry Ellis pants I owned. They were a little high in the bottom, and I wasn't crazy about how they looked. This item had been sitting in my storage unit for a while. The pants sold for $10 and shipped for $17.88. They were sold on December 21. I feel my pricing them down to $10 finally got them sold.

Moving into my January 2025 sales, there weren't as many items sold as the previous month, but there were still above-average sales nonetheless.

The first item sold in January was another Xbox controller I was getting rid of.  The controller sold for $25($3 more than the previous controller sale, same type of item), shipped it came out to $33.31.  It sold on January 6th.

The next item was a pair of Airwalk sneakers that I owned. These sold for $10, and shipped, they came out to $23.49.  This was marked as delivered on January 2nd.

The third item sold for January was a Mega Construe Halo Infinite playset. I had this in my storage unit for a few years. I sourced this item from Toys R Us in Secaucus, NJ, which has been closed for several years now. This was during the time I was doing Amazon FBA and retail arbitrage. I didn't make money on this sale compared to what I paid to purchase this item years back. This item sold for $15 and shipped for $26.93.   This sold on January 5th.

This next item was a plush that I received at work. It was a lost and found item. It was new with tags and purchased at a local NYC museum. This plush sold on January 11th, for $11.00 and shipped for $18.20.

This women's skirt was sold on January 12th.  This is another item my brother sent me.  It sold for $15.00, $26.41 shipped.

The last item sold was the Playstation 5 Camera. Once I understood how to use OBS, this camera was no longer needed. It sold for $32 and shipped for $41.38. A return was opened for this item, but the customer never returned it, so I kept the sale money.  It initially sold on January 18th.

Overall, my gross sales for December and January were $918.14

Now, let's move on to my overall 2024 as a whole.  The gross sales total was $4881.25; the Net sales total was $3,158.17(eBay fees and shipping label costs).  Deducting my storage and shipping supplies, and also my paying my brother for the items he sends me; let's say that amount is $1900

2024 Year end sales totals

My take-home was $1258.17.

What surprised me the most was the amount collected by eBay, which was over $1500.  If we include the taxes, that comes out to $1700 +

I'm still happy doing eBay.  It's something I can see doing in my retirement years.  Never full-time, but to make a little extra cash.

I've been doing eBay since 1999.  I have learned a lot and will continue to do eBay.  Unless another platform becomes available, that is as popular, easy to use, and has less fees.
