Sometimes the best weekends aren’t about doing one thing for eight hours straight. They’re about getting just enough of the experiences you love and combining them into a day you’ll actually remember.
That’s exactly what happened for me over Memorial Day Weekend 2026 when I split my Sunday between a major wrestling event and a dance party later that night. The experience reminded me that you don’t always have to choose between your interests—you can often fit more of them into your life than you think.
You Don’t Have to Stay for the Entire Event to Enjoy It
One lesson I’ve learned from attending wrestling shows over the years is that every event doesn’t have to be an all-day commitment.
I attended AEW Double or Nothing at Louis Armstrong Stadium in Queens, New York, next to Citi Field. Rather than arriving at the beginning and staying until the very end, I showed up later and caught several matches that I was interested in.
For me, wrestling events have become similar to parties. Sometimes, two to three hours is enough to get the experience I’m looking for. Instead of feeling obligated to stay for every minute, I focused on enjoying the parts that mattered most to me.
The result? I left satisfied rather than exhausted.
Great Energy Can Make an Event Memorable
One thing that stood out immediately was the atmosphere(at Double or Nothing).
The crowd was fully engaged, especially during entrances and the Stadium Stampede match. Fans were singing along, reacting to every big moment, and creating the kind of energy that makes live events special.
Whether you’re attending wrestling, concerts, sports, or festivals, the crowd experience is often just as important as what’s happening in the ring, on the field, or on stage.
Sometimes you’re not just paying to watch an event—you’re paying to be part of the energy.
Flexibility Can Lead to Better Experiences
An unexpected bonus came when I got to my seat.
Upon arrival, I discovered someone was already sitting in the seat I believed was mine. Rather than spending time arguing or trying to sort it out, I decided to move around and look for another spot.
What happened next is a good reminder that flexibility can pay off.
I ended up finding an even better seat with a great view of the action. Nobody ever came to claim it, and I enjoyed the rest of the show from a better vantage point than I originally paid for.
While situations won’t always work out this perfectly, being adaptable can sometimes turn a small inconvenience into a pleasant surprise.
You Can Enjoy Multiple Passions in One Day
One of the biggest takeaways from the weekend was realizing how much more fulfilling a day can feel when you combine different interests.
After leaving the wrestling show, I headed to a dance party, ‘More Vibes Please.’ There, I got to spend time with longtime dance friends and enjoy a completely different atmosphere from the one I’d experienced earlier.
The contrast made both experiences more enjoyable.
Earlier in the day, I was surrounded by wrestling fans cheering and singing. Later that night, I was surrounded by friends dancing together.
Instead of choosing one activity over the other, I got to enjoy both.
The Real Takeaway
Many people put pressure on themselves to make the most of every event by staying from start to finish. But sometimes the better approach is to focus on getting the experience you want while still leaving room for other parts of your life.
Whether it’s wrestling, dancing, concerts, sports, or spending time with friends, you don’t have to dedicate your entire day to one activity to make it worthwhile.
Sometimes the most memorable weekends come from mixing multiple passions together and creating a day that feels uniquely your own.
And for me, Memorial Day Weekend 2026 was a perfect example: a few hours of great wrestling, a few hours of dancing with friends, and a Sunday that felt full without feeling overwhelming.
