Evil Dead Rise Spoiler Review-$100+ Million Dollars Later

I've been a long-time Evil Dead fan, having seen all the films and even reading some of the Dynamite comics. Ash Vs. Evil Dead TV series is my current favorite overall.

Evil Dead Rise is the latest in the franchise. Released in theaters on April 21, 2023(here in the U.S.), and to date, it has been the best performing of the series(box office-wise). As of this writing, the movie has made over $132 million in the global box office. Excellent for a picture made on a reported 20 million dollar budget and was supposed to go on streaming.

I had a great time watching this at my local AMC here in North Jersey. The homages to past films, the modern setting in a residential building. The revelation of there being three Necronomicon books. The teens become deadites, whereas, in past films, it was always adults. Alyssa Sutherland from the History Channel's Vikings show was the standout. She plays Ellie(pictured above in the YouTube thumbnail), a single mother to two teens and a younger daughter. Her facials, physical movements, and ghoulish/hateful acting were tremendous.

I look forward to more Evil Dead in the years to come.

Recommended Movies & TV. June-December 2022 and Overall Favorites of 2022.

Check out this episode! YouTube Version These are my favorite movies and TV show from June-December 2022. June Insidious 1 & 2 (Amazon & Netflix) I'd never seen the Insidious movies. However, my younger brother watched them and told me they were creepy(which piqued my interest). In June, the first part was available on Prime Video, and the sequel and third films were on Netflix. I binged all three, but I preferred the first two as they wrapped up the Lambert family storyline. Black Phone (movies) The next Blumhouse movie on this list. The movie pundits I follow talked about this Black Phone's great word of mouth from early screenings. Saw this in theaters and was amazed at Ethan Hawke's villainous performance. His 2nd turn as a bad guy in 2022(first in Moon Knight on Disney+ months earlier, but much better here).
