48 Hours No Cell Phone-VIDEO version

#115

In this mini-episode I discuss going 48 hours without my cell phone and what I've learned.

I sold a couple of items in my eBay store. I'd taken my cell phone with me as I was expecting to speak to my supervisor from work regarding upcoming time off. Got to my storage unit, packed the items which sold and unknowingly left my cell phone behind.

I noticed when I got home about 40 minutes later. Panic came over me. I had work that night, so it was vital for me to get some rest before starting my shift. Was it stolen? Did it fall out of my jacket pocket? That happened this past summer where I was coming out a Lyft ride and dropped it around my neighborhood. Luckily a nearby resident found it. He wanted a reward; I gave him $40. At that time I hadn't put a security code on the phone. My credit card is associated with several apps on the phone. No unwanted transactions were performed thank goodness.

I'm an iPhone user and have never used the 'Find My Phone app. I logged into my Icloud account and found my phone sitting inside my storage unit. I was relieved. On the flipside, I put my tin foil hat on and thought this thing is a tracking device no doubt!

I couldn't get back to the phone immediately due to my schedule. 48 hours later I didn't miss the phone; it's notifications, it's beeps and boops, its glow. I was more concerned about getting messages from friends and not replying back. After a while, even that concern faded away.

On my bus ride to/from work, I habitually check my phone. Social media updates, messages mostly. Not having the device by my side allowed me more time to read a book. Giving my eyeballs a rest from all the screens I stare at day and night Also helping my posture from being hunched over my phone.

A break away from the phone more often sounds nice.

My Biggest Takeaways-Tim Ferris Interviews Sex Worker Alice Little (Video version)

There are affiliate links below

 #114

Tim Ferriss interviewed Alice Little on his podcast. Alice Little is sex worker employed at the Moonlite Bunny Ranch in Nevada. They had a very eye-opening conversation regarding sex.
Sex education from experienced individuals always intrigues me.

Since young, I often enjoyed the programming on HBO. The Real Sex show was enlightening and had eye-opening segments. I'm assuming the show was popular and encouraged the network to have other sex-documentary style shows. 'The Cathouse' was born which I'd seen a couple of episodes. The show displayed the lives of the escorts who work at a legal brothel. That being the Moonlite Bunny Ranch where Ms. Little is employed. You can find out more about the show here. She is a recent addition to the Bunny Ranch(since the show was on the air)and according to her bio is one of the more successful contractors employed. The bordello's website has her as the 'Starlet of the Year' 2017.

These are some of my takeaways from Mr. Ferriss interview of Alice Little.

-The Moonlite Bunny Ranch sounds expensive. It is a very personalized experience. Online forums, casual interview with a sex worker during negotiations, a meal with a sex worker, girlfriend experience, loads of communication, touching, kissing massages. Lots of options at the Moonlite.

-Ms. Little has some great quotes like 'sex is a dance,' and 'Sex is more than cumming.'

-She also says men like a lot of variation during foreplay, Women prefer the same consistent
movement

-In a three-way (a couple involving a third being the sex worker), Ms. Little likes to have the woman orgasm first. To relax them. Use 1-2 fingers for clit stimulus, in a same rhythmic pattern. A preferred device is the Magic Wand.

-She also encourages using condoms with sex toys.

-Herself and her co-workers act as sexual surrogates at times. Nonmonogamous consent is often due to the illness of a partner.

-Alice says society favors women when it comes to sex and relationships. There are many men not being sought after by women causing there to be many male virgins in their 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s.

-The most significant lesson she's learned about men; the public at large misjudges men by placing expectations of masculinity. In turn, preventing them from expressing themselves sexually or emotionally. This reminds me of Lewis Howes 'Mask of Masculinity' book interviews. Mark Manson talking about 'True Confidence' in his book 'Models.' Ultimately these great authors encourage being ok with being vulnerable.

-Ms. Little says one of the biggest turn-ons for men; they want to have sex with women when their eyes are open, focusing on them.

- Seeing sex workers irregularly can be cheaper than getting married. I found this fascinating.

- Porn is destroying real-life connections with people. Men are killing sensitivity in their genitalia by masturbating too hard. She suggests using a Fleshlight instead(I personally use the Tenga Flashlight).

- Excellent blowjob notes for the person giving the BJ; staring at the receiver, cupping balls gently. No biting. Men’s favorite position while receiving is two girls providing fellatio while he is standing.

- Placing a hand on the base of the penis with some minor pressure gives the sensation of body weight/force.

- Finally, Mr. Ferriss asks her, if she had a billboard what would it say. Her answer was ‘sex is a need not a want.’

Recently I've made the transition from actively trying to date, to just paying sex workers. This conversation makes me feel better about that decision. It's on my schedule for the most part, and I spend less money dating. There is a lack of deep intimacy and trust that I may yearn for over time, but right now I'm happy with the decision.

Star Wars The Last Jedi ReView-SPOILERS

#113

The most polarizing Star Wars movie released.    There are spoilers.

This review is written a few weeks after the movie's release.

Here is a brief timeline of some the film's production and reception.
For the most part, it went smoothly. As opposed to the upcoming Han Solo movie which had directors being replaced by Ron Howard.

September 1, 2017, was Force Friday where this movie's merchandise was released. A new animal species introduced in the film called Porgs were the go-to toy.
The official trailer for the film was released October 2017. According to Wikipedia, it is the 6th most watched trailer from 2017. Clocking in at 120 million views.

A significant vote of confidence was given to the director of the Last Jedi Rian Johnson. Disney has put him at the helm of a new Star Wars movie series. It would be separate from the Skywalker saga. This was announced a month before the release of this current episode.

The movie was released to extremely positive reviews by critics. Fans, however, were split. Some are saying Disney is destroying Star Wars others saying they loved it. This chapter in the series became one of the most discussed movies in social media for 2017.

As of this writing, this film has grossed the biggest domestic box office for 2017. Crossing over the billion dollar mark. Anticipation was through the roof as fans finally got to see Mark Hamill play the role of Luke Skywalker after the events of The Force Awakens.

George Lucas himself publicly complimented the Last Jedi.

Mark Hamill at one point stated he wasn't happy with the direction of his character in the film. He later recanted his comments and praised Mr. Johnson's direction.

Friends, family and a co-worker have weighed in with their opinions. I usually try to stay away from other's opinion's because they typically sway mines. Hard to do with as this was all over pop culture.

What I enjoyed:

The callbacks to the Empire Strikes Back(episode 5). Luke's reluctance to train Rey. His odd behavior on the island. All similar to meeting Yoda for the first time. The battle on the salt planet in the third act, the rebels on the run, a throwback to the Battle of Hoth. By the end, the rebels don't fare very well in this movie, this is another callback.

The Last Jedi had a weird vibe which I enjoyed. A Terry Gilliam 'Brazil' flavor. Finn's quest felt like a forgettable adventure movie. Similar to Nicholas Cage movies like 'Next' or 'National Treasure.'
Snoke's death was a surprise. The movie begins to set him up as a big bad heavy. Suddenly he's DELETED(channeling my inner Matt Hardy)!

That entire scene where Kylo and Rey fight the praetorian guard was electric. The Skywalker-Solo stuff was fantastic! Luke, Leia, Chewbacca, some Rey, some Kylo.
Everything else was great but not on the same level.

Being into self-improvement, Yoda throughout this series has given unforgettable advice. The classic line being 'do or do not; there is no try.' In this movie, he says 'the greatest teacher, failure is.' I love that.

Finally, the John Williams score and familiar sights (newer versions of AT-ATs, returning characters, stormtroopers, etc.)brought me right back into the Star Wars universe.

My issues with the movie:

The villains at times are laughable. When Hux starts speaking, I started laughing. Domhall Gleason's performance is cartoony at times. Kylo Ren's infantile outbursts make him seem like a kid. At the end of the film, he's set up to be the primary antagonist. With his behavior, it doesn't feel he's ready for the big leagues. Orson Krennic in Rogue One is more threatening with less screen time in one film than

Kylo in two.

During Finn's quest, I didn't like the 'rich people are bad' message. This gave me shades of the Occupy Wall Street movement. Do I need real life in my sci-fi?

Where 'The Force Awakens' was much more fun but lacking in substance(for me), 'The Last Jedi' carries weight but not as joyful.

The saddest news during production was Carrie Fisher's death. Which after seeing this film one thinks how are they bringing her back in the final film of this trilogy? CG style like in Rogue One? This remains to be seen. Either way, I'm in there day one to see the next chapter.
